Can I claim for my home office?

I work from my spare room most of the week and want to know if I can claim anything towards household costs.

Yes, if you work from home you can claim a proportion of costs like heating, electricity, and internet, either using HMRC's simplified flat-rate amounts based on hours worked at home each month, or by calculating the actual business proportion of your household bills. The actual-cost method can give a bigger deduction but requires more detailed records and a reasonable, defensible basis for the split (such as by room and time used). An accountant can help you work out which method suits your situation, especially if you rent versus own your home, as that affects what else you can include.
