What is a confirmation statement and when do I need to file one?
Companies House sent me a reminder about a confirmation statement and I'm not sure what it is or if it costs anything.

A confirmation statement is an annual filing with Companies House confirming that key details about your company, such as directors, registered office, and shareholders, are accurate and up to date, rather than a financial document. It's due at least once every 12 months, with a small filing fee, and is separate from your annual accounts and Corporation Tax return, which have their own deadlines. Missing it can result in penalties or the company being struck off the register, so it's worth setting a calendar reminder or letting your accountant handle it.
