Can I still use spreadsheets under Making Tax Digital?
I've always managed my books in Excel and would rather not switch to new accounting software if I don't have to.

Yes, spreadsheets are still allowed under MTD, but only if you connect them to HMRC-recognised bridging software that can pull the figures from your spreadsheet and submit them digitally — you can't manually key totals into HMRC's website. You'll also need to make sure any data that moves between your spreadsheet and other records uses digital links rather than manual copying, which can catch people out if their process isn't set up correctly. Many businesses find dedicated accounting software easier to stay compliant with long-term, but a well-organised bridging-software setup can still work well for spreadsheet users.
